    In a large bowl, combine ground meat, grated onion, garlic (if using), turmeric, black pepper, salt, and saffron water (if using). Mix well until fully incorporated.

    Optionally, cover and marinate the mixture in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight.

    Form the meat mixture around skewers, creating sausage-like shapes about 3/4 inch thick.

    Preheat the grill or broiler to high temperature and cook the skewered meat for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through.
